Math 24Ò Game was invented by Robert Sun in 1988 because he
wanted to teach children the relationship between numbers through a game. The object of the game is to make the number
24 from the four numbers on the given game card.
“Knowing the answer is always 24 alleviates a classic brand of math anxiety-getting the right answer- and instead puts the emphasis on the process and number patterns.”
Students can add, subtract, multiply, and divide to achieve the answer of 24. There are 24Ò game cards of varying difficulty, and they are marked with one dot being the easiest to three dots being the most difficult.
Math 24 Tournaments utilize three different card decks: Singles (Gr. 4), Doubles (Gr. 5-8), and Variables (Gr. 7 & 8).
IPAD and Androids have an APP for 24.
24 Game Cards can be obtained locally at: Creative Curriculum in Akron, OH (Singles-small set) and United Art and Education (Singles, Doubles) in Strongsville, OH. See the official site for other places to mail order game sets.
